Tbilisi Hosted a General Meeting of the Association of Legal Entities of the International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route”
A General Meeting of the Association of Legal Entities of the International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” took place in Tbilisi, capital of Georgia.
A delegation of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping CJSC headed by Chairman Rauf Valiyev also participated at the meeting attended by over 60 representatives of maritime and railway departments, ports and logistics companies from Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Poland, and Turkey.
During the meeting, the participants discussed such issues as attracting new types of goods to the Middle Corridor, a transparent tariff policy for 2020, as well as volumes of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian international route during 9 months of the current year.
At the meeting, it was decided to provide membership in the International Association to “Container Terminal TIS” of Ukraine, as well as the Baku International Trade Sea Port of Govsan.
The parties also exchanged views on enhancing container shipping along the Aktau-Baku-Aktau route on ASCO ships. In addition, within the framework of the general meeting of the International Association of Legal Entities of the International Trans-Caspian Transport Route project, 3 companies signed an agreement on the provision of regular transportations on a feeder container line between the port of Batumi in Georgia and Constanta in Romania. The agreement was signed between ASCO’s subsidiary – ACSC Logistcs LLC, the Georgian company GR Logistics & Terminals and the Romanian GRAMPET GROUP.
It is planned to transport cargo along this line in the directions Europe-China-Europe and Europe-Central Asia – Europe. Also, it is expected that the delivery time for cargo via a container line in the Black Sea in the mentioned directions will be reduced. This will increase the attractiveness of the Trans-Caspian international transport route passing through the Black Sea, as well as increase the volume of container transit traffic through Azerbaijan.
During the visit to Georgia, the ASCO delegation also participated in the Third International Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi. The participants of the forum discussed the development of the Great Silk Road, regional security, economic, energy and infrastructure projects, logistics and regional cooperation.
