ASCO implements the “EcoPilot” system to enhance environmental sustainability
ASCO is expanding the application of innovative technologies to reduce emissions. In line with its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, the company has taken another significant step by initiating the implementation of the “EcoPilot” system in collaboration with the Swedish company “QTAGG”.
As a pilot project, this system has been installed on the “RoPax” — “Azerbaijan” ferry.
The ferry has successfully completed its first sea trial using this system. The expected outcome of implementing “EcoPilot” is to achieve fuel savings on each voyage, thereby reducing emissions by approximately 6%.
It should be noted that the “EcoPilot” technology supports the ship’s optimal route and enables automatic speed regulation through an electronic system, considering factors such as wind direction and strength, vessel structure, weather forecasts, and sea currents. This contributes to reduced fuel consumption and, consequently, the minimization of emissions.
