The prizes were awarded to their winners
The ceremony of awarding a group of maritime transport workers with the Medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan for “Services in the field of navigation”, under the Decree signed by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, was held on October 20, 2018.
ASCO chairman Rauf Valiyev said at the event that the sailors’ devoted efforts were worthily praised by the national leader Heydar Aliyev when he ruled the country. President Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continues the policy of the Great Leader, always attaches special importance to the sailors and highly appraises their efforts to increase economic power of our independent Azerbaijan.
Rauf Valiyev further stressed that the establishment of the medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan for “services in the field of shipping” is a clear example of the trust and high value demonstrated by the President Ilham Aliyev to the sailors. He noted that the medals, as it is visible from the names, established and approved on the eve of the 160th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Shipping, are awarded to sailors who performed their duties exemplarily (excellently), demonstrated high results in their job, and contributed to the development and improvement of the shipping industry in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
ASCO chairman said that as a result of the attention and care of the head of the state, CJSC “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping” demonstrated steady development throughout its operation. New approaches are introduced in the company to make its business more effective and efficient. All these work clearly cause positive impact on ASCO’s development.
He also talked about the actions to improve the reputation of the maritime profession, explore and preserve the rich history of this field. He stressed that more innovations are expected to come in the future.
Speaking at the event, Muhtar Akhundov, the oldest sailor, captain of long- haul trips, also spoke about the influence of the sailor’s profession. Mukhtar Akhundov highlighted that this profession is honourable and responsible, and he also spoke about the advantages of working at ASCO and the opportunities created here for the employees. As an experienced sailor, he highly appreciated the actions taken in this area.
Then, Rauf Valiyev presented the medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan “For services in the field Shipping” to its winners.
In addition, the winners in nominations “Best Ship”, “The Best Captain”, “The Best Mechanic”, “The Best Electric Engineer”, “The Best Bosman”, “The Best Seaman”, “The Best Engine mechanic”, “The Best Ship Repairer”, “The Best Teacher” and “The Young Sailor of the Year” were awarded.
“The bests” were determined by the order signed by ASCO Chairman Rauf Valiyev taking into account the rules of the contest and the relevant protocol of the Organizing Committee.
Winners of the first place of the nomination were awarded with two times their monthly salary, and the winners of the second place received a prize of one-time salary. Each of the crew members of the ships who took the first place in the nomination “The Best Ship” (XDND “General Asadov” ship, DND “Zarifa Aliyeva”) were awarded a prize of one-time their monthly salaries, while the crew members who took the second place (XDND ” Atlet-24 “, DND’s” Nasimi “ship) were awarded with 0.5 times their monthly salary.
The winners of the nomination “The Bests” awarded with the medal of the Republic of Azerbaijan for “Services in the field of maritime services” expressed their gratitude for the care and attention and promised to prove this confidence with higher occupational achievements.
