A handbook on medical examination of the seafarers in accordance with international standards has been published.
A handbook on medical examination of the seafarers in accordance with international standards has been published.
The handbook contains detailed information about the governing principles of medical examination of the sailors. The handbook also contains guidelines intended for medical institutions authorized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to carry out medical examinations and issue medical certificates. Examples of general test questions on international health criteria of sailors’ fitness are also given.
Physician of the JSC “Outpatient sailors’ clinic”, Adigezal Mamedov is the head of the project on handbook issue. In future, it is planned to publish the handbook printed in Azerbaijani language in other languages as well.
Electronic version of the handbook has been posted in “e-editions” section of the official ASCO site www.asco.az.
ASCO pays special attention to social problems of their employees, taking successive steps in this direction. Health of the employees of ASCO within the framework of social programs is also in the spotlight – medical examinations of seafarers are carried out in accordance with the international requirements and guidelines.
