The flag of Azerbaijan raised on Aframax-type tanker named “Zangazur”
To the sounds of the National Anthem, the tricolor flag of Azerbaijan was hoisted on the third Aframax-type vessel, owned by joint venture "SA Maritime AFEZCO," incorporated by the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Closed Joint Stock Company (ASCO) and the Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR).
Like other Aframax-type tankers, this vessel was named by the order of President Ilham Aliyev in honor of our historically significant land. The vessel commissioned, was named "Zangezur."
Similar to previously commissioned tankers "Shusha" and "Karabakh" of Aframax-type, the deadweight (total carrying capacity) of the "Zangazur" vessel is approximately 115 thousand tons.
The Aframax-type tanker, managed by "ASCO Ship Management AFEZCO," will also be operated beyond Caspian waters.
It is worth noting that these large vessels, acquired with the support of President Ilham Aliyev, have strategic importance for our country. They contribute to the increase in the cargo-carrying potential of domestic shipping and make a contribution to the international value chain in our oil industry.
It should be added that the funds raised by the successfully issued "ASCO Bonds" on the local market some time ago were directed to financing of ASCO's share in the project to purchase Aframax-type vessels.
