An event dedicated to Youth Day was held in ASCO
Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) organized an event dedicated to 2nd February – Youth Day with the participation of young staff members working in various structural divisions of the company, and active students from Azerbaijan State Maritime Academy and Maritime College.
The event began with playing the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event consisted of two parts and the first part was dedicated to various speeches made by ASCO staff members.
Mukhtar Akhundov, sea captain and instructor of ASMA devoted his speech to the education of young and talented sailors in ASCO.
Mukhtar Akhundov also spoke about the history of the State Marine Academy, the stages of development of the Academy, the advantages of education provided, and opportunities created here for students.
Alakber Azizli, head of Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Department spoke about the need to develop a culture of HSE among youth. The head of the department stressed that ASCO has taken important and targeted measures to ensure occupational health and safety, as a result of which the HSE indicators have been increased in the Shipping Company every year.
Humay Mammadov The senior mechanist of the Mardakan ship of the Caspian Sea Oil Fleet delivered an interesting speech on the topic “How to become a good sailor?”. He particularly emphasized how responsibility is important for the profession of sailor. It was noted that a sailor should treat his work with particular love and sensitivity. In addition, willingness and patience are also essential qualities required for the owners of this profession.
Tariel Mirzayev, head of the Department for Strategic Development and Investment Projects, spoke about ASCO Strategy. The head of the department said that since its establishment, ASCO has set up its activities in accordance with international standards. Speaking about the reforms regularly carried out by the shipping company, Tariyel Mirzayev emphasized the implementation of youth-oriented projects in the shipping company.
The next speech was made by Akshin Mukhtarov, the staff member of the ASCO’s Operational and Commercial Department, who received his master degree from the World Maritime University (Malmo, Sweden) within the “Scholarship Program”, and Samir Jabarov, a duty assistant of the Marine Transport Fleet, who was elected for internship on ships of the shipping company “Columbia Shipmanagement Ltd”. As the representatives of the youth, they highly appreciated the measures taken by ASCO in organizing the training of talented and promising young people in foreign countries and receiving international experience in the field of shipping.
The second part of the event, which was held in a sincere atmosphere, was held in the format of “Open microphone”, where young members of the Shipping Company and students asked questions they were interested in. The questions were mainly about the personnel policy of ASCO, the organization of training and internships, the solution of social problems, the renewal of the fleet, recruitment of students, etc. All questions were answered by the senior management of the ASCO.
In addition, special boxes for proposals were placed at the venue of the event. The participants put their suggestions and comments into the box, which would be reviewed and evaluated later.
At the end of the event, the final speech was made by Mubariz Jabbarov, ASCO First Deputy Chairman. Speaking about the essence of the Day of Youth, the Deputy Chairman stressed that the National Leader Heydar Aliyev always took care of the youth, and the establishment of the Day of Youth is a great manifestation of this concern.
Mubariz Jabbarov added that thanks to the consistent efforts of President Ilham Aliyev, today young people become more active in the country, and the involvement of youth in the government structures of Azerbaijan gets increased day by day. Emphasizing the important role played by young personnel in the activities of CJSC Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company, the Deputy Chairman spoke about the chances for professional young graduates to start a job in the Shipping Company.
Mubariz Jabbarov spoke about the projects implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for the development of young people. It was noted that the projects implemented by the initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation adequately represent the interests of Azerbaijani youth in the world.
At the end of the event, fragments of the documentary film “Human Being – Our Wealth” were presented. The film is dedicated to planning of personnel reserves of ASCO, developing the knowledge and skills of employees, evaluating their performance, improving social security, awarding and encouraging employees of the Shipping Company, ensuring safe and healthy working conditions and other critical issues.
